I'm in the mood for...

Have you ever spent a day or two knowing that you wanted something with a certain taste, but just couldn't find it? That's what I've been doing for two days -- I've been craving something with a lemony zing to it. I finally found that taste tonight. My hubby and I made lemon bars together. I wanted one so badly, I didn't wait for them to completely cool before cutting into the pan of gooey, lemony goodness. It hit the spot!

Who knows what could show up on my counter…

Beginner

I am a newbie to cake decorating. I've always loved cooking/baking and have often said, "the more I have to feed, the happier I am." It's a southern thing. ;) I created my first "masterpiece" in May 2010 when my granddaughter brought me pictures of cakes she really liked and asked me to make one for her birthday. Well, neither she nor I knew what kind of desire that was going to spark. I am now addicted. I…

Baby Belly Cake

Just finished my first belly cake for my daughters baby shower. It turned out really well. I used home made fondant for the first time.  I Don't think I will be buying fondant anymore. Just wish I could get orders from someone other than family.

Bummed, but necessary

I just had to put the following on my Facebook page:

***********************************

I was truly blessed in 2010 to be able to make some fun cakes for my wonderful friends and family.   All of your encouraging comments have gotten me through many a long night.  As 2011 approaches, I realize I need to make a few changes before I completely burn myself out.  Making cakes is only fun if I'm not stressed to the breaking point, and if my family isn't feeling like I love cakes…

working with printed edible images

has anyone printed edible images to apply to a fonadant covered cake. I'm making a cake for my daugher's 30 birthday, it will have all of her favorite things, one of them being Tiffany. I've made a Tiffany gift box and braclet out of sugarpaste but want to add the Tiffany logo to the top of the box. The box of course is the teal blue and the logo will be printed in black but it prints on white icing sheets. I haven't done much with edible images so how do you put the image on the icing sheet…

Sugar Shaper

Does anyone have one of these? I saw it in a cake book and can't seem to find one. It would make fondant so much easier to string and hair looks awesome with it. If anyone has one where did you get it? Thanks Mel

sanding sugars & edible diamonds

Has anyone had experience with sanding sugars and edible diamonds on cakes? Iam making a wedding cake for december, and the fondant has to be covered with sanding sugar (white) and i will be adding the edible diamonds on the lace effects. My biggest concern is how to apply the sanding sugars & the edible diamonds? I wouldnt want them falling off.

baking and decorating lifeline

I just find it comforting that we can find sites like this that help us get ourselves out of a seemingly rotten situation once in awhile. I am a bread making teacher, immigrated here and without knowing anyone to help me go around the city, it is a complete physical and emotional blackout. From Asia, to America. I have been thinking of going home, and just when i am ready to pack up after only 4 months, i saw sites like this, maybe it is the angel i prayed for who whispered to me and told me,… Continue

Cake Stackers

I came across this today. A company called cakestackers.com. This product will help your cake not sag, fall or droop. i find it's very stressful moving our wedding cakes to our customers. Especially the drive there.

Check this product out, I might order one and try it. it looks pretty good to handle.

Cupcake Contest

If you are entering your cupcakes into the contest, pretty please, label your photo Cupcake Contest. There are already tons of cupcake pictures on this site, so I can't assume that just because you add a cupcake photo that you are entering it into the contest.

Yes, you can enter more than one cupcake into the contest, but please only label ONE photo per entry. Otherwise, I have to pick from the photos. It also makes it very difficult for me when I go through the site trying…
