Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I am a newbie to cake decorating. I've always loved cooking/baking and have often said, "the more I have to feed, the happier I am." It's a southern thing. ;) I created my first "masterpiece" in May 2010 when my granddaughter brought me pictures of cakes she really liked and asked me to make one for her birthday. Well, neither she nor I knew what kind of desire that was going to spark. I am now addicted. I have lots of kitchen "toys" and am constantly watching cake shows, researching online, and reading how-tos. I practically live in my kitchen and at my computer.  I often sleep with "visions of sugar plums dancing in my head" and awaken with designs and ideas in mind. The first thing I search for is my coffee and water; I then search for paper and pen/pencil to draw out my ideas.

I have learned a lot and have seen positive changes in my technique, but I want to know more.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your work, ideas, and techniques. I look forward to the day my when work is even half as good as some of the posts I've seen here.
