I had my first travel "disaster" with a cake this past weekend, and I was delivering a very large and heavy wedding cake. For some reason, my brain didn't remind me to "glue" the bottom layer cake board to the cake drum. The cake slid right off the drum and was sitting cockeyed in the cargo area of my Explorer.

 

As for the construction damage, there was none. My brain did tell me to use extra reinforcements in this cake. It had both PVC & dowel rods in it. I did this…

Although I hate to admit is sometimes, I am getting older, but I also think I am getting better. Wow! It's been quite a while since I've been on here. It has been crazy-busy around here. I love it! My business has really picked up over the last 6 weeks, and most of it has been by word of mouth (WoM)! I don't have a free weekend for the next 6 weeks, and I'm really excited about it!

Being new to the cake decorating community, I'm sure I'm just a bit over zealous, but I can't help it. Have you ever had a project that seemed to grow the closer you got to the due date? That seems to be happening to my project for this week.

It started out a couple of weeks ago as 2-two tier cakes and buttercream (someone else is doing the decorating). It then went to 1-three tier cake, buttercream and 48 cupcakes. Now, it's 1-three tier cake, 2-two tier cakes, buttercream, 24 cupcakes, and a batch of fondant.

Have you ever spent a day or two knowing that you wanted something with a certain taste, but just couldn't find it? That's what I've been doing for two days -- I've been craving something with a lemony zing to it. I finally found that taste tonight. My hubby and I made lemon bars together. I wanted one so badly, I didn't wait for them to completely cool before cutting into the pan of gooey, lemony goodness. It hit the spot!
