I do not like the taste of royal icing on sugar cookies. I know with royal icing you can decorate cookies beautiful. Does anyone have any idea or recipe on how to decorate sugar cookies with frosting other than ROYAL .
THANKS!!!!

In the case of the cookies that Serious Cakes tried, I did a little shipping experiment with my cookies. I sent out 5 boxes using the United Postal Service. The cookies went to North Carolina, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. Of all the cookies shipped there was only one broken cookie and two that were a little smooshed. So the icing is pretty stable when it comes to stacking.
Eileen, thanks so much. Happy to have you on my page! You'll love that recipe. It's very similar to the one we used at the cookie store I worked in.
I am just wondering, can that buttercream icing be frozen? I know some people freeze decorated cookies with Royal Icing, but I'm wondering about the buttercream? I ask because I need to make 300 cookies for a school fundraiser. I'd like to get started so I'm not trying to decorate 300 cookies the week of, in addition to organizing the event :-)
I have used MMF to cover my cookies. While the are baking in the oven, I use the same cutter to cut the MMF. When they come out put the MMF shape on. You can then pipe of details if you wish. I made cookies this way for a birthday for my in-laws & there weren't any cookies left over after the party.
