Cake-tastrophy

So I had my first colossal cake-tastrophy yesterday.  I worked on a three tiered Citadel graduation cake for the son of one of my pilot co-workers for 2 weeks.  Make molds of uniform buttons and a…Continue

Sorry, I don't think I ever saw this comment from you!!  My summer fun cake was butter cream, not fondant. Unless you meant the fondant decorations like the crab and lifesaver and shoes, etc.?

Hey Julie,
I'm a nurse at Memorial Hermann SE so we work for the same company (small world).

You've got some really cute cakes. Do you work mostly in buttercream? Man, buttercream is not my friend - I'll take fondant any day of the week. As far as classes go, I've taken a bunch just around the Houston/Pasadena area over the last 3 yrs. Are you a member of the Pearland Cake Club? I've thought about joining but just haven't yet but I am a member of the Houston Cake Club (which actually meets in Pasadena). I get a lot of my classes through the cake club.

Thank you for your kind words!  What kind of tips were you looking for?  You referenced trying to get neater with your fondant, but my summer fun cake is finished in red and blue butter cream.  Did you mean the accented pieces?  If you have specific questions, I'd be honored to do my best to answer them!  Take care and thank you for making my day! ~ Peggy
