Thank you so much for your contribution of information Carol!
Thanks Carol for the recipe
You are very welcome!!
I was trying a new recipe for cake but run into a problem:
The recipe said to beat egg whittes until stiff, but not dry. Set aside. On slow speed mix flour mixture to butter mixture, alternately with milk, beat well after each addition. gently fold in egg whites. My problem was when I went to fold in egg whites they had settled(lost their fluffiness). Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Not all of the egg whites had settled, I had started to fold some in from the top of the bowl, then realized that some had settled. I baked the cake with what I had and it was pretty good. I had baked it in a petal pan, which was a first, I like the looks of the petal shape cake.
Sandy, with a recipe like that, I always wait til the end before whipping the egg whites and then add it to all of the other ingredients that are already incorporated. That should solve your problem.
