Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello Everyone!

I was just informed yesterday that I have to do a Demo this Saturday to promote new product and June classes. I’m a new instructor (as you can see from my previous post in this forum) and I was totally unprepared for this! The store manager is asking me to prepare a Story board and get ready for the demo but I don’t even have an instructor kit! Anyway… my questions to you all… I want to do a dummy cake but I can’t find cake dummies at Michales and if I order online I won’t get it on time to decorate before Saturday. Any suggestions?

Also, most of the story boards I see have a course box on it… I have not purchased the course kit cuz I already have the materials… did you all buy the kit in order to teach the classes? I don’t have to spend money on a kit that I don’t need just to get a box! L

Also, anyone out there preparing for an open house this weekend. If so, any ideas/advice for a rooky instructor?

Thanks!

Anyone???

I went to the Dollar Tree and got small styrofoam circles about 4 inches around and made cakes for each class and mounted them on foam board. You don't have to make expensive demo boards, just use what you have. Think about using some lesson plans or go to wilton instructor site and download stuff there. Hope this helps. And Welcome to the World of Wilton Instructors.

Sorry I  didn't see this sooner to help before the demo.
