Theresa I would like to make a suggestion for the closing date of this contest..since it is a halloween cake contest and Halloween isnt till the 31st....making a halloween cake a week before the event woud get stale and then we would either not be able to enter it or the cake wont be fresh for the recipient...so would it be ok to extend the date to Oct 31 midnight? The witching hour :D

what does everyone else think?
I've been thinking about this because there are so few entries. Here's the issue, and everyone can let me know what they think about this. I've been trying to do a new contest every month, so the dates for entering, voting and judging allow it all to come to a close by the end of the month so I can post a new contest right at the beginning of the next month. If I extend the contest to the end of October, then voting and judging will take us at least a week into November. If no one cares whether contests are every month or not, I'll go ahead and change it.

I plan to upload a photo this week. The photo is saved on my external hard drive, not on my computer, so it's a matter of hooking it up and finding the photo! The deadline doesn't matter much to me. :)
I guess you could wait until October 31st
I would love the idea of having the deadline date to October 31!
The closing date should be at least after the 31st I think. Like Karen said, "the cake will be stale". Thanks
It would be great if you had a 31st deadline! I'm already doing a Halloween cake and I could finally enter one of these contests!
I too, must add that putting the deadline closer to the holiday itself would get more people entered into the contest. I look forward to entering, and seeing what everyone else comes up with!

I would like to suggest running holiday contests after the holiday instead of before. Most people that make holiday theme cakes are made a few days prior to the holiday. By then, it's too late to enter the cake into the contests. So what if the contest ran around the holiday (a few days before & after). This will allow anyone that makes a cake to enter. Holiday parties (especially the winter holidays) are held at different times thru out the month. Just my two sense. :-)
It doesnt particularly matter to me , I have the stuff i need , so i am trying to come up with my first halloween cake idea to enter for this contest , since its been a few months now that i havent been able to makes cakes i now can make this cake and i am very muchly looking forward to entering this contest, Hope everyone here is doing well,
I have planned a cake for the contest but since I don't do many I won't make it too early. Hubby will treat his co-workers to the efforts - so extending the deadline would work for me!
I would much rather have the contest end on the 31st the cake I will be making can then be eaten by the monsters of the house, and give us that extra time thanks
