I am going to be making ladybug themed baby shower cake in a few weeks. I know that if the buttercream I am using has butter in it, then the cake should be refrigerated. For this cake I plan on covering it with fondant after I put a nice coat of buttercream on it. I need to decorate and finish this cake the night before the shower, because I have a newborn at home and I don't want to wait until the last minute to finish it. How should I store this cake until it's time for the baby shower? I know that it's a big NO NO to put the cake back in the refrigerator with fondant already on it.

I did this with a chocolate buttercream with fondant over it. I put in in the fridge the night before then pulled it out the next day in time for the party and it was perfectly fine! Good luck! Cant wait to see pics!
