Sherrie - you can do the filling and crumb coat the day before and let it set over night. That way you can scrape the bulging icing off after it settles before your final decorating. Also make sure the frosting you are using for your dam is medium at best, stiff is better and fairly thick. I learned these lessons myself by experience. :) I use mousse as filling a lot. I also make sure the mousse has had a chance to set overnight before putting it in the cake. Hope that helps!

If you are putting more than 1/2" of filling you are putting too much and that may be another reason you are getting a buldge...
