Diane, due to the nature of your photo, we will have to remove it. If you will look up above your page, and click onto the FAQ you can see the rules that concern adding photos to the site.  Here is another link that you can read through as well.http://www.cakeswebake.com/forum/topics/cakes-we-bake-rules

I will say... right now your money would be better spent on great tools that you can grow with. Whiel the Cricut is great, for everyday use for a decorator who isn't doing big volume, it's a completely unecessary investment. It's great to cut out things to stick on a cake, but for $10 you can get a swivel knife that you can do the same thing with. Then when you have settled into everything you can see if you want the Cricut. I just can think of TONS of cake tools to spend $400.00 on that would better serve you just starting out than the Cricut. =]

Best of luck to you on your journey, and if you ever have a question don't be afraid to ask. =]

I figured I'd get back to you this way... rather than blather on under my picture... LOL.

I wish I could say that there was a super amazing trick to getting clean lines, but there really isn't. I do everything anyone else would do... level, torte, fill, frost with BC... lay on fondant and smooth and decorate. Practice makes it easier for sure. Learning the best way to approach certain mediums, like when to pick up fondant strips (you really should let them set up a bit so they don't stretch out) or getting those corners nice and sharp... it all comes with working with materials on a regular basis. How long have you been doing this? You have some really cute cakes in your pictures. =]

The guitar that I did with the flames up it.....The strings are actually strings. It's the only part of the cake that wasn't edible. I couldn't pipe strings that didn't fall in between the frets so I just used thin kitchen twine and told the people to pull it off before they cut it. I've also gone into the electrical department at Walmart and bought coils of thin silver wire and used that as well.
