Welcome!

Hello Wisconsin Cakers!

I know Theresa will be using these groups to find bakers when she gets inquiries from potential customers visiting the site.

If you could just put some basic information on here, I'm sure that would help her out a great deal. Just basically let us know:

Your name and city in Wisconsin
Your cake-making experience
Are you a professional working in a store-front bakery?
If not, are you a home-baker willing to make cakes for others?

Thanks so much for joining the group!

HELP! I am still practicing baking cakes and frosting them before I go on to fondant/decorating. The last two times I frosted the cake I kept getting crumbs in it...how do you avoid this? Thanks!EricaContinue

Made my second cake and I had a blast learning how a peak is supposed to look, how to make sure the cake is done and how to make it look the clean around the cake for presentation! It was a tripe layer coconut cake - I used coconut extract and Coco Loco in both cake and frosting. Of course I dyed frosting green and I dyed coconut yellow for Super Bowl! Must have been good luck :) Everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. Decided mastering a cake first before I move on to decorating!

My name is Jennifer, I am from Appleton and I started cake decorating about 5yrs ago when the responsibilities fell onto my lap as i was a baker for a year or so, unfortunately my whole department quit and left us short handed and I had to learn how to decorate. but for me i found a passion for it. My job doesn't allow much creativity so i try new things at home, so still learning but still loving it.

are any of you going to the KC Cakefest next month? I am going and was hoping to find someone to go with me/share gas and hotel costs. I am taking a class on Monday and Friday, so would leave Thursday the 1st and start home after the class on Monday afternoon.

ello Fellow sugar Artists,

I am working with Dave and Dawn at the Wisconsin Baker's Association in regards to the possibility of a  Cake decorating competition at the WRA show on March 12-14th.

It would be an event where you bring your entry already finished not competing on site. Duff Goldmann the owner of Charm city Cakes and of course the "Ace of Cakes" is the keynote speaker at the Event Monday and this would be a great tie in to his presence and great publicity.  And we would have drop off and set-up Monday AM so you can all stay to hear Duff if desired!

More details would follow but before we move ahead we wanted to see if we had enough interest from both Professional and Student decorator's. Dave needs to have 6-10 confirmed decorators by tomorrow, so please let me know if you are interested ASAP.

We are thinking of a couple different categories, maybe wedding and other and than student and professional. Very laid back, we will also be loking for judges so maybe that would be something you are interested in.

Let's show off the talent we have here in WI!

So just let me know if you are a "YES", a Probably" a "probably not" or sadly a "NO" as soon as you can, if there is enough interest we will proceed!

Please forward this on to anyone you think may be interested! Everything is very preliminary so all the details are to follow, the event is in Milwaukee, here is a link to the event itself....

please feel free to e-mail me with questions at cakeguru@gmail.com

Wish I could but my daughter's have scout stuff that weekend. :(  So I'm a no.  If it goes well this year, I'd love to try next year though!

I am a no, even though I will be in Milwaukee that weekend...it would be fun just to go and hear what Deff has to say and to see all that neat food stuff too...
