Welcome!

Hello Wisconsin Cakers!

I know Theresa will be using these groups to find bakers when she gets inquiries from potential customers visiting the site.

If you could just put some basic information on here, I'm sure that would help her out a great deal. Just basically let us know:

Your name and city in Wisconsin
Your cake-making experience
Are you a professional working in a store-front bakery?
If not, are you a home-baker willing to make cakes for others?

Thanks so much for joining the group!

HELP! I am still practicing baking cakes and frosting them before I go on to fondant/decorating. The last two times I frosted the cake I kept getting crumbs in it...how do you avoid this? Thanks!EricaContinue

My name is Sue Duda and I live in cavour, WI. I am a very amature cake baker...do it mostly for family, however, I am doing my first "customer cake" for graduation. I am a little nervous since it isn't technically for family (distant cousin)....I would like to take some classes and improve....have only taken 1 class to date....

My name is Gayle Johnson. My company name is Chippewa River Dessert Co. I am located in Eau Claire WI, in a licensed commercial kitchen at our home. I Graduated from the Notter School of Pastry Arts in 2007. I will do any dessert baking or chocolate work for people, but have found that I really enjoy doing Wedding Cakes the most!

I am Tamara Mugerauer, Owner of Tamara's the Cake Guru, have been decorating cakes for 20 years, (wow, I am feeling old) started when I was 19. Have had the shop since 1997, and love what I do. I am based in Oshkosh, WI and primarily do weddings and specilaity shaped or tiered cakes. I service throughout Wisconsin but primarily deliver to Northeast Wisconsin.

I am Tara Schmidt in Appleton, WI. I have decorated cakes since I was in grade school as part of our local 4-H club. I guess that adds up to over 10 years even though I've been more adventurous in the last 2 years. I have learned a lot by trial and error and things my mother has taught me. I have just recently started making cakes for people other than family, although I am not yet licensed.

Hi, I'm Julie Freund in Manitowoc, WI. I've been decorating cakes off and on for the past couple years. I worked in a wholesale bakery for some time, and learned just how to ice and how to do buttercream roses and leaves; everything else I've just picked up on my own through books, the internet, trial and error- lots of error:) I love making cakes for friends and family- especially the off-beat ones.

Hello, I am Erica and I am living in Grafton. The only cake I have made thus far is the one on my profile. No cake decorating yet but I will be on my way pretty soon! I am not a professional but what I would like to do is have my own side business making cakes for parties, wedding, etc.

My name is Megan and I live in Oshkosh. I graduated from UWO in 2009 with a degree in Human Resources and can't find a good job. I am starting to think that my real calling is baking. I love to do cupcakes the most. I was wondering if anyone had any information where I could get more training or take a class on baking/decorating. My dream job is to own a cupcake and wine shop. I am also open for part-time work to get more experience.

My name is Julie and I live in Kenosha, WI.  I guess I started decorting when I had my daughter 15 years ago, that was my first cake.  I have always made my kids cakes through out the years and about 2 years ago I did one for a friend and it just kind of took off from there. I now have business cards and repeat customers.  Last year I did a total of 71 cakes which was great, hoping to beat that this year.  I do just about everything from cupcakes, birthday, showers, weddings and anything inbetween.  I love working with fondant because there is just so much you can do and make with it.  All of my work is posted on Facebook under Julie's Custom Cakes.

Hi Megan S. I had googled Cake Decorating classes Wisconsin and found a few places that you could go for classes. Here is one in WI http://www.cakeandbake.com/classes.html  also at one time I thought about doing Vocation Vacation, to job shadow a cake decorating business for a weekend, which might be useful to learn the business side too? http://vocationvacations.com/search/results.php?category=Cake+Decor...  I hope this was helpful and good luck!

Beth, the classes at JoAnns, Micheals, and Hobby Lobby are all the Wilton classes so they are all the same- I'd say go for whichever location is most convienient with the best hours- or if anyone has recommended a teacher from a certain store to you
