Gotta get retired like me Melanie.....  course, worked 30 yrs to get there....  :o)

Vent away Melanie.  If you can't do it here, then where?  I honestly don't know how you ladies do these all nighters - I never could have I'm sure.

Like June - grateful to be retired and most of my time to call my own (except when other people think they have first claim to it).

Yup Katy

I don't know how these cakers work full time, take care of a family,  a house, etc., etc. AND do there cakes!!!  I never did that many that I had to pull a all nighter.

I work from home, but I had 7 orders this weekend. I have an assistant that I couldn't live without, but I also have a rambunctious 4-year-old who doesn't let me get much of anything done when its just me and him. Then my 2 teenagers come home and demand my attention, so it just is easier to get stuff done when they're in bed. Now though, it's 6:22 pm here, and I've been awake since 8:00 am Friday morning. I still have one more cake going out tomorrow :/

Whoa Melanie

My hat is off to you.... teenagers..AND a 4 yr old AND doing cakes.  Nope, don't think I would have your kind of stamina!!!!

Makes me exhausted  just thinking about it...............

I sympathize Melanie! Don't have the 4 yr old, but I have a 12 year old who's overwhelming homework load is going to be the death of me, and my 97 yr old father lives with us so I care for him too. I bake from home too and rarely sleep much - if at all - on the weekends. Only 5 orders this weekend, last weekend it was 9 and that was just too much. Awake from Thursday morning till Sunday afternoon. How do you stay awake? Any good tricks? I drink a lot of Water Joe, which is caffienated water....works well!

would anyone know if (as of now) airport security allows you to carry on Gum paste flowers? possibility I could be traveling with some in about a year and a half. I know it's possible to mail them, but just considering all possible scenarios......  any advice?

Comment by June Kowalczyk on April 1, 2013 at 10:44pm

Where would you be flying to Arona??  I don't see it as a problem,  but it would have to be part of  your on board luggage. Which means it has to fit under your seat, or it has to go in the overhead bin.  And it would have to have it go through screening/security. When my daughter flew here for Christmas, she couldn't wrap the gifts, security need to see everything.  Wouldn't hurt to call the airport for information.
