I am not a professional baker, I love to use butter cream icing, but whenever I use fondant to only decorate cakes.. I find that when I put it on the decorated fondant on  the butter cream icing cake it is moist.  WHY?

I don't quite understand your question Patricia. What is "moist?". Don't you want your cake moist??

IAM THINKING YOU NEED TO USE A CRUSTING BUTTERCREAM , BUT YOU STILL NEED TO DUST IT WITH WATER AFTER ITS DRY FOR THE FONDANT TO STICK , AM I RITE JUNE ?

June   I first my cake with butter cream then I use fondant to decorate it so when I put the figures on the iced cake my icing seem to be soft ..

Patricia - are you leaving your fondant for a while to let it dry out a bit before you put your decorations on?

So are you saying you are putting fondant decorations on a buttercream iced cake?? If so, like Gail says, you need a "Crusting" BC. Your icing has to be fairly hard when you attach the decorations. And your fondant decorations should be fairly dry/stiff too. I am guessing your fondant is absorbing moisture from your BC because the icing, as I said, is not hard/crusted.
