Hey Berlynda
I would put your question in the Cake Decorating or Decorating Techniques in the Forum. You will see it at the top of the page. You will reach more members with your question this way. Crush your crackers in blender/food processor. If going on fondant spread on some piping gel or BC icing then sprinkle crackers on top. Press gently to secure.

Berlynda, if you are able to pick your castle up between both hands, then most of the crumb can be done by putting a layer of whatever you are using for the crumb on some greaseproof paper and then dip the cake in it (like you would put crushed hazlenuts round the sides of a gateaux for example).  The rest will be tiresome, but probably best to lay it on a large spatula and press it on to the upright cake.  Does that make sense?

Welcome Berlynda - shame I didn't see your post earlier too.  Still, you're nearly there and that's the main thing.
