I am so glad I am doing a practice run of my purse cake. I am following a video tutorial (using my own pattern), and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I used my chocolate cake recipe and have…Continue

I want everybody's thoughts on what their favorite fondant is and why. I have done Satin Ice, Duff, and I recently saw a video on utube which adds Wilton to MMF. Just want to hear some opinions. …Continue
Hey Laurie - what about those little candle holder thingies? You know, the little flower shaped pins that you stick into a cake with the candles in? They are made of plastic and you could 'glue' your upside down pineapple to them, then put them in the middle of your cherries.......
Hi Vaughn - welcome. As you will see, we get quite a lot of supportive chat going back and forth here. Hope you get as much out of it as we do.
Thanks, Katy, that is a great idea! I was experimenting yesterday with the shape and detail on the pineapples - still not great but getting there!
Hi Vaughn, this is a great place! I look forward to seeing more of your work (I looked at your cakes and love how you include a picture of the child on each!).
lol Laurie - practice makes perfect. You'll get there. Glad the idea may help
Okay, so this didn't go as planned but I think I am satisfied with the results. I tried everything imaginable but wasn't happy with the standup gumpaste pineapples. So, I got a chocolate mold and some orange, yellow and green candy melts. I mixed orange and yellow to get a more "pineapply" shade and made 50 half pineapples which are now going on the sides of the cake over top of some whipped chantilly cream....upside down of course! I will post pictures after cream has set. Thanks Katy and June for your help.
Sorry things didn't turn out as planned. That's why we sometimes have to use plan "B". But sounds cool wat you actually did. Can't wait to see your pics.
Well done Laurie for coming up with a great plan B. And oh my gosh how I LOVE chantilly cream..........
How do you keep the icing form melting Laurie? Do you add a stabilizer, or keep refridgerated until serving?
My fav nephew lives in Coquitlam, so not too far from you. Moved their from Ont 4 yrs ago. Miss him. Gotta come out to BEE utiful BC to see him & the sites. :o)
