Hello all, I got started baking just 4months ago. I started baking for bake sales in my son school.Someone at work saw my cake and asked if i could make a cake
for her grandson and the rest is history... all my work is self taught.

Hello Bakers ~ I've been baking since 13 and when I first became a mom, I did my own cake decorating by looking at magazines. Some photos I still have and hopefully will make a scrapbook of them. I started taking Wilton classes but for the most part, I do things by sight, videos, magazines, books, books, and more books. I guess we all can look at the same picture but come up with our own ideas and ways of making it.

Good point Diana! Now heres a question for everyone....What technique/skill are you dying to learn or maybe perfect? I'm ok maybe pretty good with fondant flowers but still struggle with butter cream roses.

I would love to learn figure molding and carving cakes. Those are on the top of my list, with more gum paste flowers. I'm just starting out with the gum paste flowers and love making them. Like anything else, it takes practice.

I have virtually no experience with fondant and gumpaste. I'd like to learn the basics, as well as molding characters and perfect my cake carving skills. In a nutshell, I want it ALL, lol

I started caking about 3 years ago but I had been trying (and failing!) to make pretty cakes for years before that. I was hooked fairly quickly and saw right away that buttercream was my niche. Everything I learned was from books, tv, and cake forums. I started making videos 2 years ago because I wanted to show what could be done with buttercream, to encourage others to give it a try :D

Serious Cakes ~ I've seen some of your videos and I like that you show all, including your mistakes. You explain things the way we all can understand and you are a joy to watch. Keep them coming!

I'am so excited that you joined Serious Cakes. I feel the same way Diana, it's the fact that she shows you how to do a technique but allows us to see mistakes. Then show's us how we can fix and throw in sense of humor what a great way to learn :).
