Just my thoughts..wouldn't you think that big names would appreciate their product being advertised for free through cakes, rather than have to get their 'piece of the cake' and royalties and such? Never made much sense to me, but I supposed there are enough copy/cats out there making knock offs of their products that it is not considered advertisement at all, but more like theft. It just seems like there should be a little leeway like when it comes to cakes since they just get eaten. Just me rambling...........

Hi all, I started doing cakes about 4 years ago because my sister wanted me to make her wedding cake. I had only played a little before that and only ever made roses as that seemed the easiest, I had to make giant lilies as big as the real ones so I started to practice and I found I was not to bad at it so I got some books through eBay and I just kept trying new flowers, If I couldn't get it right by following the book I would go to the garden and look at the real flowers and sometimes to my Mothers  disgustI would pull them apart petal by petal and see how they where put together in nature and then try to duplicate them. Later as my family asked for different cakes I just tried to do something different and new with every cake I did. I am yet to learn how to make orchids, peonies and many other flowers, also I would love to know how to airbrush as I am yet to get one and try it but I have seen what effects can be achieved and and am very keen to give it ago. I am also wanting to learn how to do piping as I only able to do the basics and have seen some of the extension work that can be done and would love to try that one day. I am keen to try anything once and if it doesn't work I will contemplate over it for sometimes days until I come up with a way to make it work, an example of this is my zebra and giraffe on my Animal Zoo cake link below if you want to see it. My favourite was the giraffe as it took me about 4 hours just to get it right.

Hello all, I need a good technique on how to cover more than one petit four at a time. I have an order of 150 and doing one at a time will be so time consuming. Is there any wonder ideas out there for a home baker?????

Hi, Cha-Cha. The only good way I know is to use poured fondant glaze to cover your small cakes. Its fast and easier then covering each cake with fondant, plus less costly.

Thanks Linda Wolff and June Kowalcsyk. The giraffe is my favourite and I was hoping if I can do it again I might try to go into making animals, and maybe even out of a special clay so as the can become keepsakes.
