Make small mini cupcakes or 1/4 sheet cakes with 4 different cake flavors and different frosting flavors.  Have pictures of all of your work laying around so everyone can browse. Have list of other frosting flavors, cake flavors and what else you want to sale. Be sure that you label what they are, lemon cake with lemon buttercream, chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Hope this helps and good luck.

I've been talking with the powers that be in the state of Kentucky. The only way a home baker can sell legally is if they fulfill the requirements of being a farmer. Then only sell at farmer's markets. The only way I can make and sell baked goods from my home is if I have a separate kitchen.

After just checking into it for Ontario, Canada I can tell you we have to have a separate kitchen with a separate entrance all of it's own. Then of course there are very specific regulations the kitchen must meet. I can make cakes and sell them to friends and family and go word of mouth but if I advertise or have a complaint filed against me with the public health department then I am in trouble. They say that basically once you advertise it is a business and you must follow regulations because the bakeries will complain to them because they followed all the rules and met the codes and they don't want to be undercut. I can't really say I blame them for that. It's just a hobby for me so I will always stick with word of mouth, friends and family. I sure do enjoy it though.
