I have never taken a class. I watched my mother when I was a young child. She used to make all of my birthday cakes. I picked up cake making about 9 months ago, and get better by the day. Gumpaste is my thing I am working on now, trying to perfect flowers and so on....

Sandra as time goes on you get better and your confidence will grow. Six months from now you'll look at the past work and see how much you skills have increased. So you make sure you take plenty of pictures, even the one that aren't you favorite. Keep us posted on your progress and feel free to ask questions. This is a platform so we can learn from each other :).

I've been doing dessert baking for years, but have only recently taken on cake decorating as of January this year. I've been learning from books and the internet. I still have a lot to learn, but am always glad to get the opportunity to practice my skills!

I'll be more than happy to! Our traditional desserts are very dense, and usually involve a lot of starch ingredients - not really the type of cakes/desserts you'd decorate or that icing would taste good on, but they are delicious and have really unique textures!

90% of what I know about BC I taught myself as a young teenager. I did learn about the FBCT couple months ago, from a lady on here, I have come to love that technique. I can't wait till I take the time to sit down & play with gumpaste & start learning to make flowers.

Sorry about that, BC is buttercream & FBCT is frozen buttercream transfer

Denise I was about to say the same thing and Denise thank you for clearing that up lol! That's why I created this club so we can have helpful and fun dialog with those who learn outside the box.
