Andrea, what an awesome job on your first time sculpting. They are absolutly adorable. The catipiller is just too cute. You did a really great job on them all, if this is your first time, looks like you might have a nack for it.

Hi everyone, I have a question - what is the exact difference between gumpaste and fondant? I have been browsing the net and some places they refer to them as the same thing and in others they differentiate. Please help.

Also Andrea - your sculpting is absolutely awesome. This is only 2 weeks worth of work? wow!!

Rebecca, I think the difference is that the fondant dries out faster, so you have to work very quickly. Gum paste stays softer and more flexible so it's easier to do sculpting with (and I believe it holds the shape better than fondant....). I have yet to use it tho, but hope to soon...my oldests 11th birthday is coming up in couple of months and she's already got this elaborate cake she wants me to make! lol

Andrea,

You did an awesome job on your first try. I have not tried making figures just yet...but I really doubt that mine will look that good the first time around...:)
