BORING!!!
In GB Karie, cupcakes are fairy cakes. My understanding is that a butterfly cake can be either a very fancy elaborate cupcakes or cake.
Katy will obviously have the proper answer. My Mom was Scottish, & used a lot of the same terms.

Not quite June - a butterfly cake is a fairy cake with the top sliced off, cut in half and then sandwiched onto the cake with butter icing to look like butterfly wings.  Thus - Also, we now tend to call fairy cakes, cupcakes too - all this yankee influence you see!  Cupcakes tend to be larger and the small version would be a fairy cake.  What's in a name huh?

And yes June - BORING!

Great idea Karie.  How lovely for you both to have a shared common interest - a real team!

As for my choices - I bet they look at perfection of the surface of a Victoria sponge too, as well as taste.  So, in spite of my people saying mine is the best they have ever tasted, I probably wouldn't get any prizes for appearance lol!  I might go for the cupcakes and kids party thing....that could be fun

I hope everyone is having a great summer. I'm going into my 3rd semester of culinary school for baking and pastry. However I did find time to do this cake for a client. I hope you like it?  Also welcome to all of our new members and I can't wait to know more about you :).

Lovely Daisy
We call it either term or semester. We interchange Canadian/British language for all sorts of things. Hats off to you. You will be quite the culinary whiz when you graduate. :o)
