How do I cover two 12" square cakes with fondant for the base of my haunted house?

Hi everyone,

I am planning on making a haunted house cake.  For the base of the house, i'm using two 12" square cakes, 4" high.  I was thinking of covering the cake with fondant panels rather than try to cover an 8" high cake.  If I were to cover them individually and stack them, I wouldn't know how to cover the seem.  Any suggestions please?  I do a lot of buttercream work and not much fondant.....

You can roll it out big enough, but you'll need a helper to flip it on to the cake. It's not easy to do by yourself. If you want to do panels, you can texturize them to fit in with the theme of your cake.

I like the idea of the textured panels. I want the house to look like the siding is weathered and I can do that with the panels.  I'll post a picture when i'm finished.

Thank you so much Theresa.
