was wondering could i use strawberry cake mixes instead? Also what cake mixes do you prefer to use? thanks!

I have used the strawberry cake mix and not used the daquiri mix. I thought it was good until I made it this way. So much more strawberry flavor with the daquiri mix. I suppose you could use the strawberry cake mix and the daquiri mix but I'm not sure it's necessary and strawberry cake mixes are hard to find around my area.

Cake mix brands are a hot subject. One person likes DH, another Pilsbury and another BC. Some say the texture is different with the different brands but I haven't seen that. I use Pilsbury when I can find the flavors I want because they are normally a better price - Wal-Mart for 88 cents.
This sounds so yummy...I am definately going to try this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if CakeFan had an opinion on using pureed frozen strawberries as opposed to the daiquiri mix. I wonder if the pureed strawberries would work as well, or if the additional sugar in the daiquiri mix makes a difference. Hmmm...I bet adding Framboise or Kirsch in lieu of the strawberry extract might taste good, too. I'm gonna have to try this one soon...

I was just hunting around for a good strawberry cake recipe in my cookbooks last night. And, lo and behold, here is one this morning.
I made strawberry wasc the a couple weeks ago by using strawberry flavored yogurt instead of sour cream and then cooked down about a pound of strawberries and added them to the milk (I use milk instead of water). This was for a one box variation of the recipe though. Also, I would suggest using a bit of pink/red food color if you use this method as the color didn't come through as much as I thought it would. Smelled amazing though!!

Where is the strawberry daquiri mix located in the store? In the alcohol section? or is it frozen?

The daquiri mixer is normally on the wine aisle at the grocery store.
I made this cake this week and it is soooo yummy! My kitchen smelled like heaven.
I can't wait for my clients to try it!
This sound great! Too bad a lot of the recipes posted are hidden in post rather than the recipes files. I would never have found it. I had already started to Google. The recipe I have in the Cake Mix Dr. book adds strawberry gelatin and I didn't want the cake to take on the look of a very dark pink cake. I was hoping for a more lighter cake in color, pink. I like the idea of adding the daquiri mix. Thanks for all the replies and info.
What size pan or pans did you use for the recipe ?
I made this and I didn't like it.
I'm asking because I was thinking of making it .. but if it's not all that .. maybe not .. What was it that you did not like about this cake??
