it really depends on the quantity of cakes you are doing, or if you just want to use this. It is not as easy as the paper cricut. It takes some practice and I suggest watching some youtube videos about it and how to use before you buy, Lots of people have sold theirs so you may find a used one on craigslist or ebay at a deep discount there are also other machines by different companies that are less expensive and suppose to be easier to use.
Thanx  Melinda!!!!!!!!!!
I have one & I like it.  I think I would like it even more if I had more time with it.  I only do cake for family so I don't do alot of them & this was a gift.  There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get the basics down its great!
I have one  to  , I dont use it alot, but I like it. I use it mostly for letters.
I have one but haven't gotten to use it much yet.  Just bought a DVD Called Simple Designs Using Cricut Cake by Carrie Biggers.  It has lots of useful information and walks you through the process.  Now I can't wait to get started.  I bought it from www.globalsugarart.com
I love mine!!!  It takes a lot of practice, but once you get the hang of it - it is a great tool to have!!! :-}
I have one and haven't used it as much as I would like.  It is a great tool and I can only get better at using it. Debbie :)
I should have added that I have the regular size one; not the new mini Cricut Cake.

I have one (the large size).  I got it on clearance at JoAnn Fabrics for $150. back in November.  I love it. It does take some time to get used to.  And watching the videos are a big help.  To me it was a great investment.
