Does anyone have a good recipe for a powdered sugar substitute? I have seen a few recipes on the internet but they taste chalky. Any suggestions? I have a very important cake to do the first of december and she can not eat sugar. Thanks in advance for any advice! Blessings!!

I've tried some of the powdered sugar substitute recipes and they are gross! Give this recipe a whirl, my family loves it.

Susan I have used Xylitol with good results as a sugar substitute and some health food stores carry the powdered variety....Xylitol is a sugar alcohol and has very little impact on the BGL (blood glucose level) You can even put it in your food processor with a little cornstarch and turn it into powder...it is worth a try.....

Deah I copied that recipe..looks great!!!
It would be helpful to know why she cannot eat sugar.
Get a book on diebities - YIKES I can't spell!. There are a few things that can be used. I had a recipe yrs ago that used cottage cheese; others use cream cheese.
Thanks I am going to try this one.

She had gastric bypass surgery and can not have more than 5 grams of sugar at a time. (I think that is right). I can't ask her questions about it because it is for her birthday and it is a surprise. I do know that she can handle the Splenda blend so I am thinking about doing the splenda blend with cornstarch and seeing how that works. I will let you know.
