Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Has anyone got the FMM 9mm bead cutter that can tell me where I am going wrong? I've followed the instructions but the beads still come out with a line of past on the top and bottom, not smooth like beads should be. I've trimmed them in the mould and then closed the mould again and trimmed a second time but still no success. I've tried using less sugarpaste, more sugarpaste but to no avail. It's quicker to make them all by hand. I need to make a 3 tier cake with lots of beads on it and thought this would be the easiest way but i was wrong. Are the silicone moulds any better? .

The only bead maker that I like is the one made by Wilton (believe it or not). I've got two other ones that I hate that I paid an arm and leg for. They don't come out easy and I have the same problem that you are having now. There have been times out of frustration that I have just resorted to using the pearl dragees in place of the beads made from the molds just so that I can get the cake done. I hope someone else can post a solution too, as I have two molds just sitting doing nothing.

I dust my molds with a little icing sugar. comes out with ease. You can also use luster or shimmer dust...that is if you require your beads to be shiny.

This is the mold that I use...no lines ever.

Thank you Teneisha, I am going to try using the luster dust. After spending so much on these two molds, surely something like this will help to release the pearls.

You are welcome Linda :)
