Hi Dawn, nice to meet you.

Welcome to the site, Carol! I took a look at your cakes and for a budding young decorator, you are doing great! By the time you are in your later teen years I expect that you will be close to a pro at the rate you are going. I have an eleven year old granddaughter that likes to decorate too. She is in one of my photos with her birthday cake that she helped make as part of her birthday gift. It's an animal print cake with lots of wild colors that she designed herself. Hang in here with us kiddo, and you will be making some pretty awesome cakes sooner than you think! =O)

Hello, my name is Carol. I've joined this site very recently. I'm 13 years old and starting to learn about decorating cakes.  I've started decorating cakes in the last year or so and I love it. I've already learned a lot like how to fill a icing bag, how to use all the different tips, and to not buy Wilton fondant. I've posted some pictures of some cakes that are better than others. I'd really like suggestions and comments.

I have to say Carol, you are a very talented young lady!!!  I started baking at 13 yrs old as well, but I don't think I would have had the confidence to attempt the cakes you have done.

Good for you & good work.  Looking to see more of your cakes.

We have sooooo many new people that have recently joined...it's time to have them introduce themselves. We want to hear from you newbies!

Well, it seems they are joining at the rate of 20-30 a day!!!!! Can't keep up with all the new photo's.....wish I could. Would be on the computer all day.

Hi My name is Mildred.  Jersey born and raised but have  been in Georgia for 6 years.  I love...love this site and look forward to learning and sharing with everyone.  I so passionate about baking and decorating cakes, cookies, etc.  I could do it 24hrs/7 days a week.  I do cakes out of the house but would love to open up a store front.

Does anyone know where we can get more information on the Sugar Arts Institute instructors video that is due on Monday, Jan. 23rd?

Thanks!  Mildred

I do believe the decorators have to submit a video to the Sugar Inst. to be able to teach. The Sugar Inst., has it's website temporarily on CWB site. If you need info, contact Theresa Happe, the owner of this site. She can most likely help you out.

Welcome Mildred. It is an addictive site, that is for sure.

hi linda

i was just wondering what the legal side was to running cakes from home can you tell me what you had to do as i am looking at doing this and was unsure if i was alowed?

i had to advise tax people i was going self employed, contact enviromental health to ask what they expected for my business. then when work completed called them back to get the ok and enviromental health certificate. you can then display this and use it for food festivals and farmers markets. take out public liability insurance, then hunt for work.

linda

Welcome, Linda! Looking forward to seeing your work!
