I have only bought Wiltons brand, but I am hearing that it is way to hard to handle. So since I dont know the differance right now can anyone tell me the better ones to use...Thank You.

I like Satin Ice brand.

I love using satin ice too. It rolls out very easily and the taste is so much better then wilton' s fondant.

I can get Satin Ice in Canada, but it is expensive.  It is very good tho.  I usually make my own MMF.  Once you have made your own, don't think you will go back to "store" brands.

Wilton, in my humble opinion, is nasty. Teribble taste, hard to work with & roll out. Just plain don't like it.

Satin ICe all the way!

Since I'm not a professional and I cake for myself, family and friends only, I make my own Marshmallow fondant and it is inexpensive for me and my usage.  I did have the Wilton "Old" stuff and it is nasty tasting - I tossed it out.  I saw a conversation here somewhere that since I purchase mine, that Wilton does have a new and better tasting fondant.  I have NOT tried it.  I have no need.  You will find a few recipes on MMF here on the site but if you have any trouble, write me and I will give you Sherry's.  The one I use and love.

Hey Stampinsher

I have a great recipe for MMF, & I am actually going to make a batch today.  But I am always looking for new & different recipes for that & cake, icings etc.  I would appreciate throwing your recipe my way.

Thanks :0 )

For gumpaste *nothing* beats making it yourself w/Nic Lodge's recipe.,

Basically you make royal icing - can be made w/meringue powder - then add Tylose powder to it.  Soooooo simple and great to work with.

Can you send me that recipe please. Also can I make flowers from it and can I mix gum paste into? Thank you for getting back to me.

Hi there ladies!  It is Sherry Quall's tutorial.  It used to be up on the site.  Lucky for me, I copied it onto my word document and I have a LINK for the google tutorial.  Here you go with PICTURES!  ENJOY!!!!

How to make Marshmallow Fondant

Sherry’s Qualls tutorial

http://docs.google.com/present/view?id=ddhwqp45_0dmxpwbf5

1 16oz package mini marshmallows

2 lb package powdered sugar

½ cup cocoa powder (if making chocolate fondant)

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon light corn syrup or glucose (not pictured)

1-2 teaspoons flavorings

Shortening

1 large microwave safe bowl

1 large spoon

Measuring cups and spoons

Paper Towels

gel paste colors (if making colored fondant)

1 gallon zip lock bag (not pictured)

** Note:  Carefully check the weight on your marshmallow package…it seems makers are phasing out the 16oz bag and going to 10.5oz bags…the smaller bag will throw off this recipe

Thanks S. this is basically the recipe I use.

I personally just use the basic Wilton fondant recipe and find it works almost as good as the satin ice, Although if I had the money to spend I would prefer satin ice every time!
