Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone's got any ideas, but I make lemon meringue cupcakes and you add a spoonful of lemon curd on top of the raw cake mixture in a half-filled cake case and then lightly cover with another small spoonful of mix. I've made these cakes a fair few times and the lemon curd always sinks to the bottom of the case during baking, which isn't the end of the world but it should be in the middle. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, thanks :)

The only cupcake i fill it B4 baking is the cupcake with Cookie dough , and i freeze the dough first then put it in the cupcake mix .
i filled my cupcake after they bake , the filling make the cupcake extra moist
If it's heavier than the mix, it's always going to sink. Why not just pipe the filling into the center of the cupcake after it's baked?
Yeah I think that's the only answer, I was just wondering if there was something I was doing wrong as the recipe made it sound really obvious. Thanks for all your suggestions though :)
