There is a software called "Sure Cuts Alot" which will work with Cricut.

Hello, I heard the workers at Michaels discussing the Cricut cake- they said that it was a bomb and it was on it's way out. Not sure if it was true but they were saying the product didn't work as well as the company hoped it would. Just wanted to pass it along. Goodluck! :)

I think that the Cricut Cake not selling well is likely spot on because my local Big Lots is selling them now for $149.00.

Wow, If Big Lots is selling them then it's probably true! $149 is still a bit much for something you probably won't be able to get supplies for in the future.

So do you guys think the cricut is not a good investment as it once was our Big Lots in North /Carolina also has it on sale for 140.00 and I thought about purchasing one but I already have alot of the molds that you can put the fondant or gumpaste in and mold them just as quick and pop them out and put them on the cake they are still at Michaels and AC Moore for 350.00 I just wanted to make sure before I gave up and didn't purchase this the cartridges are at least 29.95 for the machine What is the Silouette is it a machine too that does some of the same things

Hey Tamara, I love the machine. It is not something you will use everyday but sure is nice to have. Molds and cutters are nice but with the cricut design studio and the machine your ideas are endless. I don't think the cost is expensive when you consider the cost of molds. I buy my cartridges on Ebay and Amazon. I have never paid more than $25 for any.

I agree with Debbie especially on the carts. I had a few already for my paper cricut, but have since gotten a few more. Craigslist is good too. There's also a website, www.cricutmachine.com where they often have sale on accessories, carts and I think its even where I bought my machine. Not sure what the Silouette it. I personally try not to get bogged down with tooo many 'cool' toys. ;-)

That website I just mentioned...On there now looking and they have the cake machine for $129.99 and I see some 3 set cartridge bundles for only $29.95...these are both great prices, so there are definitely some reasonable options out there now!!

I have a cricut cake and a silhouette. I prefer the silhouette because it doesn't require expensive cartridges and you can use software to cut any image you want. I use make the cut and love it. You do need the special blade and housing that Linda McClure designed as the ones that come with the silohouette won't work for frosting sheets, gumpaste or fondant. Icingimages frosting sheets work the best for this application, the other brands slide around on the backing and tear when cutting.

I got a Facebook notice yesterday that PhotoFrost is coming out with a new product called Cut-N-Frost It comes with Zing and Make the Cut software and you get $50 worth of free sheets. Has anyone else heard of this?

i am having the same trouble! they do a small demo on using the machine but when you try cutting the images it does not work. if any one has tricks to this machine, please share!
