How Contests Work - Beginning July 1st, 2010

To Enter:

Upload the photo to your profile. For each contest, we will give you a unique tag to add to the photo. One (1) entry per person.

All of the entries will be featured. Only 5 featured photos appear at the top of the photos page, in no particular order. To see all of the entries, click on "view all" located at the bottom right of the featured photos. Here is the direct link to that page: Click here

Voting:

Everyone will have an opportunity to vote. To vote, view all the featured photos at the link above. When you see a cake you want to vote for, click on that picture. Scroll down the page and look underneath the photo. You will see the Favorite button. Click it to vote. Do not vote using the rating stars or by leaving comments. Comments are still welcome, but nasty comments are not.

I will post a time period for voting. After that time period elapses, only the top 10 cakes will remain featured. At that time, the judges will select the winning cakes.

It takes a long time to go through all of the cakes and count votes, so after the top 10 are selected, there will be a few days before the winner will be announced.

Judges:

If you are a judge, you will pick the 1st and 2nd place winners from the top 10. I will let you know the date for voting. If you have plans that day or something comes up, please try to give me enough notice so I can find someone else to fill in. If you change your mind about being a judge, just let me know. It's not a problem.

Judges will email their choices to me. This way, if a cake has the most votes and it doesn't belong there, the previous votes have no effect on the outcome. I don't want to have judges use the same voting system as everyone else, to avoid any problems that could result.

Cakes will be judged by precision of work, creativity and originality, and general appearance.

The judges are a panel of professional cake decorators, many of whom have won awards and written books.

Okay, I hope this is clear enough. Now when people ask how to vote, please tell them to come to this page.

All your cakes you titled for the contest should be in the Featured Photos now. Sorry about that. Many times we just check the newly uploaded photos for contest entries and rely on the members to let us know when they've simply changed the title of a photo. Good luck in the contest! Your cakes are lovely!

I must have done something wrong because I entered a cake I did but I don't see it??? I tagged the picture as 831 & uploaded it to my profile. Can you let me know what I did wrong so I don't do it again. Please & thank you.

Cindi, your cake is entered. I found it on page 6 of the entries. Your search may come up a little different but it should be around the same general area.

thanks. I missed it 3 times.......:( It's good to know that at least I did do the entering right....lol
