wow this is a beautiful cake!  Is that stenciling work on the cake? How would you do that without making mistakes??

 

And i'm assuming the bottom trim is just a silver ribbon right?

The design appears to be an Edible Image which would explain the ribbon at the top edge of the layer. Edible images do not disappear on Fondant like they do on icing. Also for the bottom edging they are using a Rhinestone ribbon (not inexpensive I may add). This is a very detailed cake and I am sure the designer put a lot of time an effort into creating it.  Without their consent I wouldn't "copy" it.

 

This is what I am talking about in my other topic..... if that is an Edible Image that you can buy for somewhere like Lucks, then who says more then one person is going to use it in the same way.... We all have round and square pans, and we cover the cakes in fondant the same way..... will stack them the same way.... Even if it is a stenicel it is out there for everyone.... So why is it a copy?  We know it because she is posting on here, but really who says more then one person wouldn't come up with that design???? 

BTW I think that cake is beautiful and would love to be able to create something like that for some one.....

I understand what you are saying.... I just think in today's world, with everything so freely put out there, copying a cake that is put on the internet or in magazines are expected by people who don't understand that, it is someones elses work, they want what they want and ask for it. 

 

And yes those images are reproduced on many medias, ready made images, the cricket, with copiers and so on.... So they can be reproduced by anyone who wants them once they are out there, it is kinda bittersweet, you want to be proud of your work, but just know anyone can copy if once it is out there.....

If it IS an edible image it is not one that is ready made. It is one that someone has taken the time to design and print or scan from a customer's invite etc. and then print. I have an edible printer setup that allows me to design and print my own images.

There ARE ways of using the stencil or image without coming up with that exact cake. Do not use ribbon, add flowers, use risers, add a contrasting color or element. Use ALL edible elements.  It is easy to use that cake for inspiration for your imagination without making a replica. You just have to brainstorm it. :-)

I think someone mentioned it already, but if you have access to a Cricut Cake machine you could do a similar damask pattern without it being exact. This is beautiful!

I agree - a 6 round, 8 square, 12 round and a 16 square (about 2" off each side of the 12 round.)

I think this is the rhinestone strand (held together by a woven cotton string inside) that you can purchase by the yard at Hobby Lobby stores.
