Buttercream Cake Contest:
Enter your buttercream icing cake by Tuesday, June 21st for a chance to win. Add the photo to your profile and label the title Buttercream Cake Contest. All entries will be featured at the top of the photos page. You may enter as many cakes as you like, but please enter only 1 photo per cake entry.

2nd place: Petals Cake Stand Display Base (select your size: up to $36.95 value)
The top ten cakes will be determined by the number of people selecting it as their favorite with the favorite button. Voting will take place from Wednesday, June 22nd to Saturday, June 25th. Judges will vote from June 26th - 27th. The winners will be posted on June 28th.
Please note that if we feel you have solicited votes, your cake will be disqualified from the final ten cakes. We are trying to make contests as fair as possible and ensure that a contest is won on merit. FYI, I will not be approving new members on the last day of voting.

Terri - can the cake have any fondant on it? Or is it buttercream only? I'm just asking because a lot of my buttercream cakes have some kind of fondant topper. Thanks!

I knew this question was coming and I think if we make it so the majority of the cake is done in buttercream, some fondant and gum paste is okay.

just wanted to say thanks for featuring my cakes, I did notice a lot of the featured cakes are mostly fondant/gumpaste..was a lil confused..lol

Every contest, there are entries that really don't follow the rules. Ultimately, the judges know what to look for and they select the winners accordingly.

Some of that could also be that some of us have never entered a contest before and are unsure how much fondant is ok to have on there. I certainly fall into that category. If mine have too much I certainly wouldn't expect them to be left in. I really have no idea what the rules are and just put them in for fun.
