Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

It's Arrived......Our Cricut Cake Test Machine Came in Today

So this afternoon someone told me that a box from Provo Craft has been sitting by the freight door all day.  I ran to see what they were talking about.  Sure enough, IT IS HERE!!!!!  Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow Cakes we Bake friends and family, we are officially testing a Cricut Cake in daily retail production.

For those of you who would like to know if the Cricut Cake is just a glorified Cricut Expression, we will know soon.  We currently run 4 Cricut Expressions in daily production to the tune of 6 to 8 hours on a busy day - so the Cricut Cake will have to prove itself.

I posted the first pictures of the Cricut Cake below and will post frequent updates over the next few days on our website at http://www.cuttingedgecakeart.com

I am soooooooooooooo excited and can't wait to share.

Eileen... I didn't mean it that way either.... just giving both sides :-) That is how we all learn... what is for one might not be for another.... I don't do tons of cakes but love tons of toys I am a toy junkie!

Jennifer thanks for the link will check it out!
Jennifer thanks for sharing! Love the info you have posted!
Great for you and your future. You are very bless. All I can do is dream. LOL But can you tell me what it is and what it can do? Please.........
I definitely am going to purchase one as soon as I can. Have to save those pennies ya know :) I think the biggest question is are the cartridges interchangable, and I hear some talk of some downloadable software for all Cricuts that make it so you don't have to purchase as many cartridges. Do you know of this?
Hello Jennifer:

I have been dying to test the new Circut Cake machine. Could you provide me with information on how to get one sent to me for testing? Do you have to own a large bakery to be consider? I understand that they are not on the market for selling yet. Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks
How is the cake cricut different from the craft version?

Theresa, go her her blog it shows a side by side comparison of the differences. Quite enlightening actually! Thanks again Jennifer...your evaluation is very useful!
Remona,
We use 4 cricut expressions between 4 to 8 hours per day. They are having us test the durability of the machine in a "high production" facility.

Check out my newest blog entry http://www.cuttingedgecakeart.com we put the expression against the cake using fondant, gumpaste, and modeling chocolate. We are open to suggestions on what mediums to test with. Go to the blog and see our results.
Looks awesome Jennifer. Very impressed with your very thorough assessment of both machines. Have you tried using the edible image sheets yet? I really am interested in how they respond to the cricut cake.

You do realize that all you are doing is making me want this machine even MORE than I already DO!...LOL!
Angela,
We have used the edible image sheets with the Expression. When we try other mediums such as MMF we will put the image sheets on the list. Not trying to convince anyone into buying the machine, just want everyone to be informed.

Totally understand, that is what I am loving about your comparison. You are being honest and straight forward about it. I already had planned to invest in a cricut, but wanted to see if I should wait and invest in the cake or just go ahead and get an expression. The blade clogging issue and food safety is very important to me. Your assessment is just confirming what I pretty much already knew that I wanted to do, and that was wait for the cake to be made available to the general public :)
