Winter Holiday Cake Contest - Nov. 16, 2010 - Jan. 2, 2011

Winter Holiday Cake Contest for Beginner Cake Decorators:

Enter your winter holiday cake by Sunday, January 2nd for a chance to win. Add the photo to your profile and label the title Winter Holiday Cake Contest. All entries will be featured at the top of the photos page.

This contest is exclusively for cake decorators who have made 30 cakes or less.

Please bare in mind that everyone progresses at a different rate. If you strongly disagree with someone's cake decorating level, please send me, Deah, or Eileen S a private message and we will look into it. I kindly request that you don't start attacking people in the forums.

After the contest is over, I will give everyone the opportunity to comment about how they think the contest went and whether or not we should do something like this again. I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding that we are giving this a try in the effort to give all cake decorators of different levels the opportunity to participate in a contest.

Sponsored by Edna De la Cruz of Designmeacake.com and A&H Cake Design.

1st place: Poinsettia Gum Paste Tutorial by Edna De la Cruz. Please visit Edna's website for more details about this dvd.

2nd place: Impressions Baby Mold from A&H Cake Design.

Please enter only ONE photo per entry. You may enter as many cakes as you like. Voting will take place from Monday, January 3rd through Friday, January 7th. The top 10 cakes will be displayed on Sunday, January 9th and will be determined by the number of people selecting them as their favorites. Judges will vote on January 10 - 11. The winners will be posted on January 12th.

If we determine that a contest entrant solicited votes through Facebook, that contestant's cake will not appear in the top ten cakes. We want to make contests as fair as possible.

A & H Cake Design offers the some of the lowest prices on cake
decorating supplies. They also have quick & reasonable shipping
rates.

The winner will also be featured in A&H Cake Design's newsletter and
on their website.
Congratulations to Bob White - 1st place and Heather Barbery - 2nd place!

Tina -Total plagerism here!  Copied from Eileen's previous comments but since the instructions are so well written I thought I would use them again.

We actually need you to add it to the general photo section.  Click on "Photos" on the upper toolbar, then on "Add Photos".  Click "Upload Photos" and choose the one you want to enter. Once it loads, change the title to "Winter Holiday Cake Contest" and we'll Feature it so people can vote.  Message me if you have any trouble!

I'm sorry Tina, I should have checked this before I posted last time.  This contest is for less experienced cakers - 30 cakes or less.  From the number of photos you have posted it looks like you are more experienced than that.  Let me know if that isn't the case.

Oh, I did... I saw it after I posted the pics here... ;o)  Thanks!!!

I have made a LOT of cakes over the past year ( when I started doing cake for fun) ,  how do you determine if somebody has made at least 30 cakes?  Do people have to have at least 30 cake photos uploaded?

That is one way we check but really we expect honesty.  The prizes are high dollar amounts so we hope people will play by the rules.

I think i have 31 different cakes uploaded ( 41 pics , because i have a different veiw of a few cakes ) is it okay if the cake photo for the contact has smaller pics WITHIN the pic  to show another veiw? like this one below? (this is one of the cakes I would love to enter )

and this one also has "pictures within the picture"

OHHHH  30 cakes or LESS.. BUMMER...

I have only been decorating for 15 months..(and I made my 2 holiday cakes only 4 months after i started..).

and I have had NO training what so ever....  (.. i am just a stay at home mom to four kids looking for a hobby... ) so I guess with 32 cakes under my belt, i am TECHNICALLY 2 cakes over the 30 cakes limit.. darn = (

Yep - sorry Barbarann - your cakes are lovely though!  Keep an eye out for the next contest!  It's amazing how some people just take to it naturally - you clearly have a talent. :)

Sonia, you need to add the photo to your profile and label the title Winter Holiday Cake Contest.  After it is there we can feature it.

When you say label it, you mean the title of the cake...

i already upload my picture how do i label it if its not the title like i think..

Go to that picture in your profile, under it you will see Edit Details, click that, change the title and Save.
