How to deal with this lady???
Need some advice please! Grrrrr.....had a request for a cake due this evening from a woman I have baked for a number of times, and she has referred many people my way. She wanted a three tier cake, topsy turvy, bright and crazy, full of candy for her daughters birthday. She had the same thing for her daughters birthday last year so she knew what she was aking for. I purchased all the ingredients needed, including all the candy, which is quite costly. She sends me a message of Facebook yesterday afternoon asking if we can 'put a pause on the cake because it's madness here". In my mind, pausing the cake means you still want it but not yet.....wrong. I sent her a message back saying to let me know when she did want it. She sends me a note this morning telling me that only 5 girls are coming to her party so it's just way too much cake - can I make her a big cupcake cake intsead. Seriously??! I'm ready to scream. I have been too much time and money for nothing. ....

You are so right Katy! I am always telling our 12 year old to treat people as she would like to be treated - with kindness and respect. I get the eye rolls and the "I know, mom"s but she is growing into a kind and loving person who I couldn't be more proud of. You've got to wonder what people are thing sometimes! Heaven help that mom when she's elderly and needs her daughter...and she's too busy with her own life to care. What a shame.

Do you know the book - The Water Babies? I read that as a very young child and the one thing that has always stuck from it and that I have told my granddaughter about is Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby.

I'm with you...except I've had people (who were also good customers) call 2 days before they want the cake and expect me to drop everything and do their cake! A question though, Why communicate on Facebook? I created an e-mail address specifically for my cake business. That way I can keep track of everything I do, cake orders and changes, suppliers and other cake business info all in one place and readily accessible.

Yes you do learn who you can give leeway to and who not. She is a NOT!!!!! If you except an order from her again, obviosly you will get a "hefty" deposit..... which she can certainly afford. And if she asks why... well you certainly have the answer to that. Guessing she knows exactly what she has done or she wouldn't have "gushed" on your FB page... OH.... your still my fav..... geez... gagola!!!
ps: You don't seem to need her as a customer cause you are getting orders from those that appreciate you..... :o)

Good morning all....I just had to share some information I saw just now.....
I am not one to wish ill on anyone, but I am a believer in 'what goes around, comes around'. I believe in treating people as you would like to be treated because 'karma', or whatever you would like to call it, will come back eventually and kick you in the butt.
With that being said, I was going through my Facebook page just now.....this person posted a picture of her daughter with a cast on her leg. Turns out she was running through the yard, tripped over a rock and broke her foot. Ruined her party. Hmmmmm.......
