Hello Shallena,
Well the cake got made and it was a success; not saying too much since she is only 7, but I was pleased as well I must say. If you like it and I can give you any pointers, please let me know and I will be happy to help you in any way I can. Just FYI...I baked it in the lamb pan with a pound cake, cut off it's little head (wasn't as messy as it sounds), and replaced it with a horse head I "sculpted" out of Rice Crispy Treats. I do use the word sculpted lightly, I basically squished and pressed until it resembled a horse (had to google image so I would know what one looked like). Good Luck!!
Cheers,
Louise
Louise-how far in advance did you decorate your cake. It is beautiful, but I would have a hard time completing this the day of the party. I have baked my cakes and the party is Saturday. I have also made my fondant flowers and butterflies to stick into place once the cake is frosted.

I forgot to say, Louise, that your unicorn looks great! What a great memory you created for your daughter.
Shallena-It was simple to do the muzzle...I just put a glob of stiffish buttercream on , and molded it into the shape I wanted. It stayed great. This particular horse was decorated on a Tuesday, taken to fair on Wednesday afternoon, and it held up through the end of the fair on Sunday. (and got a blue ribbon).
I LOVE YOUR MONKEY CAKE! Louise you are so creative! Many kids would dream to have one of your creations made for their birthday. Your kids are so lucky!
