Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Greetings baker buddies,

I have been asked to do a wedding cake next month that will consist of some serious damask piping (not stencil work) and I was wondering if anybody has the "secret" to achieving this perfect look?  I am attaching apicture of the cake off the internet (all kudos to crazy cake lady - picture found on flikr).

Thanks so much in anticipation.

That's right Gail; at first it might look a little different and that is because the cakes used were not tall enough for the full pattern of the stencils.  That's all.  Happy decorating Mandy, it can not get any easier than that.

You could also draw half the pattern onto a piece of paper, fold it over and  with a carbon sheet, retrace the design to replicate the same design on both sides, tape a piece of acetate (the kind used for over heads-see through paper/plastic in other words, acetate) over the design that is on the paper, then go over the design with a fabric puffy paint, and let it dry overnight, and you will have your own reusable impression mat that you can see through for placement onto the cake.

thank you all ; ))for sharing all thease wonderful ideas ,
