I am more than happy in your reply to my mail. How is your day?.Mine was hot over here in Dakar Senegal. My name is Lucy Abel (24) single and never married, tall and fair in complexion, Good looking girl but very sharing, giving, caring and loving, above all God fearing, i am from ivory coast in west Africa and presently i am residing in the refugee camp here in Dakar Senegal as a result of the civil war that was fought in my country. My late father Dr .Desmony Abel was chairman managing director FAN INDUSTRIAL COMPANY LTD, in ivory coast and he is also the personal adviser to the former head of state before the rebels attacked our house one early morning killing my mother and my father. It was only me that is alive now and i managed to make my way to near by country Senegal where i am living now as a refugee. I would like to know more about you. Your likes and dislikes, your hobbies and what you are doing presently. I will tell you more about myself in my next mail. Attached here is my picture and i  Hoping to hear from you soonest.
Yours Forever Lucy,, The previous girl also did  this and told me that she was a princess ,blah blah, but I deleted her from my e-mails. I reported this one as spam.

Well Magdalena

With over 25,000 + members, kind of hard to know ALL of them. I am sure their are some on here with some ulterior motives.  We don't add any new members until contest voting is over. Some will join ONLY to vote for their cake friends to win. Kinda pathetic to want to win a $50 gift certificate that badly!!

Yes if you are active, it is a good sign. Although there are some that for whatever reason have literally dropped off the map. Some of my "friends" I haven't seen on the site for over a year. Of course, could be many, many reasons why.

Despite what these people write, their intention is to get your email address and other personal information. One member reported to me that she responded to Lucy Abel and her friends then got a bunch of spam emails. These types of people are always up to something. As a rule of thumb, never respond to them and always report them to me. I like to get them off the site as quickly as possible.

; ) how can you find out who they are? i am not how they spam!? and i will not open any thing now any more unless i know were its from , thank you and i think it stinks that , the join here and do stuff like that

Unfortunately, There are unscrupulous people out their. Good rule of thumb Gail. If In doubt, don't respond & report to Theresa.

i will , thank you all for the info , i didnt think of spam , ! i just thought they wanted to tell me some bull S~~T and iam not into bull S~~t about some 1 on the site , but nothing realy made much scents  what she was saying , since i didnt know her !??, so i just deleated it , its realy ashame pep's don't have any thing better to do , ? or try to get your info that way ; ( , sad ; ((

Being terribly cynical, I would say that the email is leading up to a 419 scam [do a search - there's a wealth of information out there ..]

These type of scam have been around for literally decades. The modern variations are rooted in the "Spanish Prisoner" scam  [earliest reporing 1860's] ...

Once hooked, the story usually involves

a. helping someone

- sick/broke/robbed in foreign country [careful - they could use a friend/acquaintance's name]

- detained person in foreign country

- refugee unable to access their funds due to darstardly relative, political situation

- an orphan or widow of a rich businessman

- fake charity or ministry overseas

- a family member of a former member of government of an African country

b. get rich quick / a "sure thing"

- fake lottery win

- pose as a relative of intestate foreigner overseas

- laundering family wealth

- holding money transfers

After softening up, it is a case of sending cash to start the proceedings, and you will receive money for your assistance.

The "do me a wedding cake, but I live far away" is a variation on this scam that has been going on for years .. [“HAPPY MARRIAGE LIFE” is a dead give-away, if you ever get one]
