Its always a good idea to do a practice cake before you promise a topsy turvy to someone. I knew I would have a few kinks to work out before I felt comfortable with working on someone's cake for their special occassion. At least now I'll be able to carve the cake and put it together with confidence and in a decent amount of time.
One thing I would like to know also as "jane's sweet creations" stated, is how to calculate servings and exactly how to charge for them. I heard that some people charge extra for topsy turvy and stacked cakes but I have a hard time getting people to order even when I DON'T charge them extra....What am I doing wrong?? Have I just been trying to sell to the wrong crowd? I find myself doing alot of free cakes for friends in hopes that word-of-mouth will bring me some orders.
How much do you charge for the topsy turvy cakes? Since you have so much cake cut off how do you calculate servings? I'd like to do one but haven't had a request yet. Thinking of trying it out for my daughters birthday.
