Thank you for having me as a member. I am a mother of 3 wonderful boys and a wonderful husband. I have been married for 29 years and I am a full time legal assistant. I have always loved baking and have baked for many years for my family. I took up the hobby of cake decorating about 9 years ago and find myself learning new things every day. I started out by taking a Wilton cake decorating course and purchasing a lot of cake decorating books. I am a cake decorating book addict. I have so any books I could open up my own library. I have learned a lot from the books and have taken cake decorating classes here and there to further my skills. Cake decorating is my therapy to relieve stress, even though it can be stressful at times, but I enjoy it a lot. I look forward to meeting all the members and sharing my experiences as well as learning from yours. Have a great day!!

Pregnant Belly Cake

I have to make a pregnant belly cake for 50 people.  I have the Wilton soccer ball pan that I have used before but I believe that would be too small to serve 50 people. Can anyone give me some ideas?  I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

I've taken the Wilton courses I and II and attended the Swamp Thing class in New Orleans with Sharon Zambito and Dena Bryngelson. We made an alligator and tree stump. Since this class I make my own fondant or use Fondarific for covering cakes but use Wilton or Satin Ice for cake decorations. I don't get to practice very much - sometimes have an occassional practice cake and bring it to the office. I'm a visual person so video tutorials, dvds, illustrated books and just trial and error are how I've learned most things. I really want to learn more about internal structures to make 3D cakes. Dena Bryngelson's 3D cakes are amazing. Maybe someday I'll get to take her Tiger cake class.
