Ladies, the reason you are having problems with the WASC recipe is because the cake manufactured have changed their formulas. The boxes used to have 18.25 oz and now they are 15 -16 oz. To try to fool you into thinking there was the same amount of cake in the mix, they have added more leavening, which is why the cakes are full of holes and don't bake properly. They have been rendered virtually useless. Time to bake from scratch. You may still be able to find some mixes that have the 18.25 oz. volume and if you do, the box-plus recipies should work fine. Otherwise, don't waste your time, effort and money. Sorry to be the one to break the news.
