Hezzie - I assume it's Hezzie.  Good luck on your topsy turvy.  They're fun to do---I find them stressful but the end product is fun and "oh" so interesting.  Be sure to post a picture!

Cake balls are different and as you say, "an alternative to the cupcake".  You're correct in that they are made from scraps of cake or you can make a fresh cake and crumble that up as well.  The frosting---it can be homemade or ready made in the can.  Add your frosting to the crumbs and form into balls.  These are then dipped in melted chocolate and drizzled with chocolate.  The cake flavors and frosting combinations are endless.  Just get creative - which I see from your cakes will  be an easy process for you.

Thanks so much.  A cake ball is cake and icing (frosting) rolled together to form a ball and then dipped in chocolate.  Maybe you know them as cake bites.
