Thanks Linda - I am definitely going to give it a try!  My daughter wants a topsy turvy cake for her birthday which I haven't done before and I understand that there is plenty of carvings.... :)

That is so cool and they look absolutely awesome!  Interesting alternative to the cupcake which I always struggle to get uniformity with. They rise differently, look different, sweat in their cases and I just hate them... this could be a great alternaive! So you just make a cake (or use left overs which I usually eat and feed to my children - urgh) crumble it up and mix it up with buttercream? Then what, dip in a ganache mixture?  LOVE IT! But these ones are special - did you do piping on them? In chocolate? That looks incredibly hard?
