Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Very quick, very simple token cake for my eldest brother, David. It was his birthday on Saturday and we don't do presents anymore, but I will see him on Wednesday (we live quite far apart). So I thought a little pressie of his favourite cake would be nice. Chocolate sponge swiss roll with chocolate butter icing filling, wrapped in peppermint flavoured fondant.

Gail, I baked the sponge in a tray measuring 7.5" x 10" and rolled it up from the short end, so I could get a decent roll on it.  Then had to slice a small piece of each end to give a tidy finish before rolling in fondant.  The board is about 7.5" long.

Thanks Gail & Mandy.  Gail, you know this is one of the rare times when I managed to roll it back up without it breaking!  I wonder if it was because it was a small one................
