What mom wouldn't love a fabulous purse for Mother's Day? This is all cake, deep dark chocolate with caramel buttercream, stacked and carved. I used "cake spackle" for the first time to hold it together as it was tall and narrow. It's covered in fondant, used a textured rolling pin for the flaps. The medallion on the (fondant) bracelet has mom's initial on it. the gold details were painted with a mix of metallic gold airbrush color and luster dust. Flowers are mom's favorite daisies made of gumpaste. the ONLY non-edible is that there's wire in the handle.

Thank you for all the nice comments and thank you for voting my cake into the top 10!
very pretty
My favorite color! Would love a bag like this. And oh yea-there's my pearls too! Great job!
Congratulations Linda, one of my favorite cakes you did. Love the color.
lovely cake
Scrapbooking paper...what a clever idea. I'm going to remember that, for a future cake.
really lovely and so well executed.
Thanks, everyone! Becky, I apologize that it took so long to get back to you! The board is covered in scrapbooking paper, then clear contact paper, and finished off with a ribbon. Since the cake itself is on its own board, it doesn't touch the contact paper. I have been waiting and waiting to have a cake on which I could use that particular paper. It's one of my favorites.
Lovely cake
