Not exactly the design the bride asked for but we had no choice. The venue did not want the bride to use any vendors for their wedding except for their own. The owners tried to sabatoge the ENTIRE cake. The candle holder next to the cake was originally to be put inbetween the top two tiers and the bottom three tiers. The building was leaning and the floor shook extremely horribly when someone walked by. The owners tried to break the gumpaste calla lillies on the top and knocked off the bow. Then picked it up and smashed it on the cake knocking off buttercream off the side of the bottom tier. Sorry for the rant but I was devistated.

Lisa - we got married there in June of 2001, so pretty close! We had our reception in our suite as well. Even though the cake was from an outside bakery, it just about fed the 30 people I had there and cost me around $450. And it was nothing fancy and tasted so-so. I'm glad I didn't have to pay $700!!

I love it Eileen....My brother also got married at the MGM in March 2002. They had to purchase the cake but instead of renting the reception room for about 10-15 people, he had the reception in his suite. The cake was tiny and cost the mother $700. When I say it feed about 10 people, there is no exaggeration. We live and learn.

I don't know why people have to be so darn ornery when it comes to things like this. If you're hosting a PRIVATE PARTY, then you should work with them for whatever they want. I had a similar, but funnier, issue when I got married in Vegas.I bought a wedding package from the MGM Grand. They didn't allow outside catering to be brought in (that included cake), but their prices for food were OUTRAGEOUS (for example $3/shrimp on a shrimp platter). So we had to smuggle in a 3 tier wedding cake and deli platters in disguised boxes up to our suite. It was 105° outside and when we got up to the room the cake was all melty.
