Made for a little girl at my church who said she wanted a blue cake with pink flowers. I needed to practice my buttercream work so decided to smooth the sides and pipe on ruffles and petals. My WORST skill by far is writing. I can mess a cake up real good with my sloppy writing and this cake really shows it. I really wish I had beautiful hand writing skills...oh well, keep practicing I guess.

such beautiful cakes you posted ,beautiful piping
oooh the dried chocolate might just do the trick..that way if I mess up it won't ruin the cake. Definitely going to try that. I use fondant cutters as much as possible but I know that there are rare occasions when I need to write and I need to be prepared. Thanks again for everyone's support and words of encouragement.
Great job angel!
This is a beautiful cake, Angel! I am impressed with those ruffles and just look at those smooth sides! Your handwriting doesn't look bad at all,, but I agree with Betty that a smaller tip would help a lot. I bought a #0 for the purpose but have been unable to get frosting to come out the hole - lol! I've got to practice, too! June's idea of piping onto wax paper and letting it dry then adding to the cake is BRILLIANT! I will definitely be trying that one!
ok..will keep trying. Don't know how much good it will do though, you guys should see my handwriting-It's TERRIBLE.
Yes...if the icing is to stiff you'll have trouble. It needs to "flow" smoothly out of the tip. I love looking at all your work, you have real talent..
Ok will try that Miss Betty Thanks! Probably has a lot to do with the buttercream being to stiff or something too because it breaks a lot
Pretty cake ..writing is hard...try a smaller tip, (# 2 or 3) works for me.
